Milwaukee County Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Opened in 1953, it was primarily a baseball park for Major League Baseball's Milwaukee Braves and later the Milwaukee Brewers. It was also used for Green Bay Packers football games, ice skating, religious services, concerts, and other large events. Its final season was in 2000, when it was replaced by the adjacent Miller Park.
These are vintage wooden seats,
made in the 1950s by American Seating Company. The wood is from
different ballparks, except the middle back slat, which is from
Milwaukee's County Stadium. The original Milwaukee County Stadium
wood seat back slat has some of its original green paint showing on the
back of each chair for authenticity. The standards were
sandblasted and powder coat painted yellow, and the wood was painted in
official Brewers blue, and Packers green, as sold by Menards, a
Wisconsin-based company. The seats are very solid and weigh close
to 50 pounds each, and include stands as shown, which turns them into
functional chairs.
The
seat numbers represent two of the great Hall of Fame players of their
era: Bart Starr (#15) of the Packers, and Robin Yount (#19) of the Brewers.
The
Packers are best known for playing their home games at historic Lambeau
Field, but they also played many games at County Stadium.
